1- مقدمة
التعذيب عبارة عن عملية استنطاق يتعرض لها كل جزائري يشتبه في انتمائه للثورة أو دعمه لها، وتعتمد هذه العملية على عدة أساليب غير إنسانية ولا أخلاقية يندى لها الجبين ، وهدفها هو الضغط على المسجون أو المعتقل وإجباره بوسائل التعذيب الاعتراف بما لديه من معلومات تفيد السلطات الاستعمارية لكشف أسرار الثورة وتحركات المجاهدين وهذه العملية يقوم بها أناس لا شفقة ولا رحمة لهم وكان من أبرزهم السفاحون: أوزاريس، بيجار، سوزيني، وغيرهم إلى جانب الشرطة السرية والمكتب المخصص للمضليين.
2- المراحل التي مر بها التعذيب
لم يكن التعذيب خلال مرحلة الثورة التحريرية منحصر على فئة المجاهدين فقط إنما مس شرائح عديدة من المجتمع من شيوخ ونساء وأطفال دون مبرر على اعتبار الشخص الذي يلقى عليه القبض مشبوها، وابتداء من ساعة القبض تبدأ مراحل التعذيب والهدف من ورائها إضعاف نفسية المسجون أو المعتقل للاعتراف بما لديه من معلومات عن الثورة ورجالها وهذا ما يسهل للإدارة الاستعمارية عملية ملاحقة المجاهدين ومحاصرتهم والعمل على خنق جيوب الثورة في القرى والمد اشر والأرياف وحتى داخل المدنه.
3- أشكال التعذيب
لقد تفننت السلطات الاستعمارية العسكرية منها والمدنية في العبث بالضحايا من خلال أنواع التعذيب المسلطة على المسجون والتي اعتبرت إبان الثورة أعلى مرحلة وصلت إليها جرائم الاستعمار الفرنسي وبينت الحقد الدفين ضد العرب كما أظهرت الرغبة الجامحة في التقتيل والتنكيل بل حتى التلذذ في تعذيب الجزائريين، هذا التعذيب الذي ميز حقيقة النهج الوحشي المتبع ضد المجاهدين، وقد تفنن جلادو الاستعمار الفرنسي في ممارسته، وهي المهمة التي أوكلت كذلك إلى ضباط الشؤون الأهلية داخل المعتقلات والمحتشدات وفي القرى والأرياف وحتى المدن الجزائرية لم تسلم من هذه الأعمال اللا إنسانية حيث كانت مراكز التعذيب منتشرة بشكل كبير عبر التراب الوطني.
